Meet Diego, the keel-billed toucan 👋🏻 This colourful sub-species of toucan is the national bird of Belize and is widespread across most of South America.
Their bill which is ideal for eating a large variety of fruit, nuts and even occasional insects and lizards, appears heavy but is actually extremely light and quite brittle. In their native regions, toucans are sometimes associated with evil spirits and are thought to be the incarnation of a demon.
This has been painted with Reeves and Liquitex acrylic paints and has also been sealed with matt varnish so the colours are guaranteed not to fade. All measurements are outlined in the pictures.
